Nasal aesthetics includes the surgical procedures for correcting structural impairments and breathing problems. It is the most frequent type of aesthetic operation worldwide. Istanbul is on the way of being one of the most preferred provinces worldwide in nasal aesthetics. The nose has the central role of facial beauty. Thus, nasal aesthetics necessitates serious planning, a careful and tissue-respecting surgical technique, an accurate follow-up, and proper documentation.
Patients should be aware of the nasal defects they have before they opt for nasal aesthetics. It is important that the patients describe the problems that cause discomfort. The first question to be directed to the patients should be: which part of your nose are you uncomfortable with? The answers may be one of these: ‘’My nose is a Roman nose”, ‘’the tip part is low’’, “my nostrils are wide”, ‘’my nose is deviated’’, ‘’my nose is different when viewed from the right and the left’’, or ‘’my nose tip is large’’
It is easier to progress with patients who are aware of their nasal defects and who can describe what they want.
We carry out a 3-D photography for all patients who present to our clinics for the first appointment sing 3D Vectra technology. With the help of this system, our patients are able to see the 3-dimensional nasal appearance they will have after the surgery.
We can briefly examine and discuss the nasal defects and facial appearance of the patients via 3D VECTRA.
Following the photography, the 3D VECTRA system forms a 3D simulation of the patient’s face. We analyse the defects of the nose. The main targets in our analysis are:
The analysis step performed prior to rhinoplasty is very important. Many patients are not completely aware of the defects they have. It is essential to provide this awareness prior to the operation.
The techniques and devices currently used in rhinoplasty have changed to a significant extent, and these have led to a natural nasal appearance after the surgery. During rhinoplasty interviews, the common concern of many patients is an excessively elevated, artificial, and excessively curved appearance.
We provide a natural appearance while eliminating the nasal defects. Our aim during rhinoplasty is correcting the defects and providing a better look and a natural appearance.
You may undergo rhinoplasty if you are 18 or older.
You should stop taking aspirin, herbal tablets, and green tea. It has been proven that these products increase the swelling and bruising. Smoking and alcohol consumption should be reduced first and stopped before the surgery. On the day of the operation, the patient should not have cold, flu or herpes labialis.
Rhinoplasty surgeries are generally painless. Cold compression is performed on the first night in the hospital and your head is held upright. After 1 night of hospital stay, you are discharged in the morning. The prescribed pain relievers, antibiotics and nasal sprays should be used as instructed. Hot nutrients and beverages should not be consumed for one week since the heat may increase the oedema around the nose and the face.
The first control visit is on the 6th-7th days after surgery. During your first control visit, the splint on the outer side of the nose, the silicone supports inside the nose and the bandages are removed; new bandages may be placed if necessary.
During your first control visit, 70% of the oedema will have resolved. The remaining will resolve in the following weeks.
You should stop using your glasses for 2 months.
There will be no need for nasal sprays after removal of the silicone supports.
You can start your sportive actions 1 month after the surgery (taking cautions to protect your nose from strikes)
You should protect your nose from strikes for 6 months.
It will take time for your nose to achieve a completely formed nasal structure. Complete removal of the oedema and recovery of the inner tissues and bones may take months.
You may feel discomfort in breathing due to the swollen tissues within your nose in the first weeks. By the 2nd-3rd week, this will recover with reduced oedema.
Complete forming of your nose may take from 6 months to 1 year.
